The Foundling Museum is the ideal venue for your private dining event, with two beautiful rooms to hire in our central London location.

The Court Room, one of London’s finest original Rococo interiors, provides an ideal setting for intimate dinners. A re-creation of the original Foundling Hospital Court Room used for entertaining important guests, the room contains many fine examples of British art and design with paintings by Thomas Gainsborough and William Hogarth, alongside a striking eighteenth-century marble chimneypiece. The stunning Persian carpet enhances the Collection and tall windows open out onto Brunswick Square. Up to 40 can be seated, with a maximum of 20 on a single table. Alternatively this space provides the perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks.

Located next to the Court Room is the grand Picture Gallery, available for larger events. Large-scale paintings by the most celebrated eighteenth-century portraitists, once displayed in the original Foundling Hospital, provide a powerful backdrop for events. Guests can dine alongside Hogarth’s magnificent painting of the Hospital’s founder, Thomas Coram. Ideal for group dining in London, this unique room can hold up to 100 seated on round tables, or a maximum of 46 on a single table.

A private tour of the Museum can be included as part of your event, and for classical music fans, an opportunity to view the Gerald Coke Handel Collection makes for a truly unique experience.

The Museum has dedicated staff to help you from site visit, administration and pre-planning through to on-site management of the event itself. We also work closely with a selection of approved suppliers from caterers and florists, through to photographers and musicians. See our Plan Your Event page for more details on how to tailor your event at this museum for hire in Bloomsbury.

Evening hire is available every day. Daytime hire is available on Mondays only.

  • Everyone was as pleased and happy as anyone can ever be for the superior evening we enjoyed last night at the Foundling Museum. The museum itself is of course very very fine, and my guests were just amazed when they walked into the beautiful Court Room.

  • I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and all the team at the museum for helping to make the Adoption Awards such a great success. It all ran very smoothly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thanks for all your help in the planning and to the team on the night, who helped it to run like clockwork, we look forward to coming back next year.

  • I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your help in the lead up to last week’s event and all the support you and your team gave on the night. We’ve had very encouraging and warm feedback from guests. Many were unfamiliar with the Foundling Museum and were so pleased they had the opportunity to visit out of hours.

    Harbeena Lalli, National Trust
  • What a great evening we had on Wednesday. I just wanted to send my thanks and to let you know how wonderful the whole Foundling team were. My trustees were inspired by the Foundling mission.
