The Foundling Museum’s out-of-hours tours make an excellent choice for those looking for a unique experience for guests or clients.

Dive into our incredible heritage and collections when we’re closed to the general public, with our selection of tours. All income generated helps us deliver our programmes to support people who have experienced care, and those who care for them.

History Tours

With four floors to explore, we welcome you to discover and share stories filled with love, loss, and hope with these private guided tours. We offer two options – a breakfast tour and an evening tour – which can be arranged any day of the week (subject to availability). Both include refreshments for all guests on arrival.

Breakfast tour | £1,250 + VAT

Evening tour | £1,500 + VAT
  • 5:30-7pm or 6-7:30pm
  • For up to 25 guests
  • A tour from one of our knowledgeable and experienced Curators 
  • welcome glass of fizz or a soft drink for every guest on arrival 
  • 1.5 hours exclusive access for you and your guests to enjoy the Museum

Tasting Tours

Enjoy a unique tour with Jane Peyton, drinks expert and founder of the School of Booze. Learn about the fascinating and extraordinary history of the Foundling Hospital and 18th-century London through the lens of gin, beer and champagne. Each tour includes a tasting masterclass, revealing the flavours and history of these classic drinks.

Gin Lane | £2,000 + VAT

How did gin go from the devilish drink of the 18th century causing devastating social problems, to the undisputed queen of the drink’s cabinet? Join Jane Peyton for a tutored tasting of three different types of gin and the cocktails they inspired, and learn how this much-loved drink helped Britain to become a dominant naval power and establish a vast empire.

Beer Street | £2,000 + VAT

If you’ve ever wondered what type of beer Britons were drinking in the 18th century, then think no more. Join Jane Peyton, for a tutored tasting of three diverse types of beer that each have their own extraordinary flavours and impactful history. You will taste the beer that graced the dining tables of the wealthy, that powered the Industrial Revolution, and that accompanied the First Fleet to Australia.

Champagne, History & Heroines | £2,000 + VAT

What might the 21 Ladies of quality and distinction – the 18th-century noblewomen who championed the opening of the Foundling Hospital – have raised to their lips in a toast? For women of influence and refinement, there was something altogether more glittering and fashionable: sparkling wine. Led by host Jane Peyton, explore unexpected stories and myths surrounding this celebratory drink, and discover the women who shaped the history of bubbles.
