Find information to help plan your next self-led school trip to the Foundling Museum.

Only one group with a maximum of 20 students may visit the Museum at one time. Please stick to your allocated time slots.

Please remember that all items and furniture on display in the galleries are part of the Museum Collection and should be treated with due care and consideration. Please do not touch or lean on any of the items or furniture on display.

We recommend an adult to student ratio of:

  • 1:5 for under 5’s (1 adult per 5 children can visit for free)
  • 1:10 for 5-11 year-olds (1 adult per 10 children can visit for free)
  • 1:15 for 11-16 year-olds (1 adult per 15 children can visit for free)

All additional adults are charged at our concessionary price of £9.50 and can pay on arrival.

Please remember that teachers and accompanying adults are responsible for their students for the duration of their self-led visit to the Foundling Museum and all students under the age of 18 must be accompanied at all times. Please ensure that any requests from Museum staff concerning behaviour or noise levels are adhered to.

We do not have a lunch room. Please note that no eating or drinking (except from water bottles) is permitted in the Museum.

Picnics can be taken to Brunswick Square opposite the Museum in fine weather or find information about local cafés and restaurants on our website here.

Please note that there are a limited number of toilets available in the Museum.

Unfortunately, we have had to close the cloakroom so please avoid bringing large bags with you. We do have a limited number of lockers for the storage of small bags and coats.

There is step free access to the Museum, a lift, accessible toilets and a visitor wheelchair. Find out more about our facilities here.

Photography is permitted in the Museum without flash. Please check the photography rules for our temporary exhibitions as these change regularly.

Our shop is located at the Museum entrance and offers a range of books, stationery and gifts.

Parking is not available, but coaches can drop off and collect outside the Museum.
