Thank you to everyone who donated to our Big Give campaign this Christmas to help us continue our award-winning work, and tell our vital stories of love, loss and care.

Thanks to your generous donations, pledges from Foundling Museum philanthropists, and The Reed Foundation who provided match funds to boost our efforts, we raised an enormous £22,590!

Connecting the past and the present, with your help

With the funds raised we’ll continue to bring our historic story of care to life in ways that are meaningful for people today.

As the only cultural institution in the UK celebrating care-experienced people and those who look after them, our exhibitions and events explore universal themes of love, family, loss, care and motherhood. Through sharing the history of care in the UK, and the present reality of care leavers, we celebrate the resilience of care-experienced young people and inspire compassion from those who engage with us.

All children deserve to thrive, but it can be challenging for those in care who have their homes, education, and mental health disrupted. Each year 10,000 young people leave the care system and have a harder path into meaningful and lasting employment. Our award-winning traineeships for young care leavers build confidence, self-esteem and professional skills. Every year at least 70% or more of the young people taking part go on to secure employment, education or further training.

Finding the Foundling Museum was like finding a gemstone. It’s about people like me, it challenges people’s idea of what care is like.

The Museum is so much more than just art. It’s a story. It’s people’s lives. It’s still a current thing now.
