Our first contemporary art exhibition, also the first by a female artist, featured the work of Ted Duncan. Duncan grew up in care in a children’s home and various foster families. Absent present is her way of expressing the loneliness and isolation felt as a child and how she comes to terms with it as an adult. It shows her adult self meeting her inner child and is part of Duncan’s desire to create the family photo album missing from her early life.
