Enjoy a lunchtime concert in our Picture Gallery from Carys Barnes, Viola Fellow of the Philharmonia Orchestra.

We are delighted to welcome Carys Barnes, a violist described by Philip Dukes as ‘a young musician of exceptional promise and flair’. Carys currently has a scholarship to study a Master’s in Advanced Instrumental Studies at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and previously graduated from the Royal Academy of Music.

Carys has trialled with leading orchestras in the UK and abroad, and is currently on trial for principal viola with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Slovak Sinfonietta, and tutti positions with Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and RTÉ Concert Orchestra. She has also taken part in schemes with London Sinfonietta and Royal Ballet Sinfonia, plus worked with BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC NOW. Carys has performed recitals around the UK, including at Southwell Festival and Haslemere Festival.

Our Young Artists’ Platform programme showcases exceptional musicians at the start of their musical career. In partnership with Philharmonia Orchestra, the programme provides monthly recital opportunities for their Philharmonia Instrumental Fellows.

The performance will last an hour, and is free with the price of admission.
