First year students studying for a BA in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins have created jewellery inspired by poignant objects in the Museum Collections and the emotions embedded in the story of the Foundling Hospital. Their work is displayed throughout the Introductory Gallery.
Since 2014 the Museum has been working in partnership with the college. Forming a compulsory element of the students’ course, this project engaged first year students studying Jewellery Design with the rich history of the Foundling Hospital. Over a series of visits to the Museum and the London Metropolitan archives, each student produced an artistic response to the history of the Foundling Hospital, their pieces linked to an element of the Hospital’s story. These works were then narrowed down through a series of critiques. The items displayed cover a range of materials with an equally diverse number of processes on display. Two students were also carefully selected to sell their items in the Museum’s Shop.
Repinned continues the Museum’s artistic legacy, offering fresh and engaging ways of looking at the Foundling Hospital story.
