This is your chance to discover the art of sign painting!
Guided by lettering artist Valeria Romeo, you will have the opportunity to paint your own sign on reclaimed wooden board using specialist brushes and paints.
During this hands-on creative workshop, we’ll take inspiration from classical typography from the Foundling Museum’s collection.
You will start by choosing a word or initials to paint before transferring it onto your board with templates and guidance. Then, discover how to use specialist paints to successfully paint your personalised boards. Finally, take your creation with you to proudly display at home!
No need to stress about coming solo, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow attendees. This is your chance to take some time to craft, connect and self-express. What are you waiting for?
Spaces are limited, so make sure to book a ticket to secure your spot. This workshop is open to anyone aged 18–30 and no previous experience is required. This event will last around 3 hours.
Valeria Romeo is a lettering artist and mural painter based in London. She specialises in creating eye-catching lettering murals, signs, and window designs that bring spaces to life with colour and personality.
She started practicing hand lettering in 2014, while working full time as a graphic designer, as a way to be creative with pencil and paper and away from a screen.
She chooses environmentally friendly materials and processes wherever possible in her practice, such as repurposing existing items or reclaiming materials that would otherwise go to waste.
Valeria is a big believer in the power of creativity for wellbeing and hosts regular lettering classes around this ethos.
Assemblage Collective is an art collective based in London specialising in hands-on creative workshops with an emphasis on experimentation and collaboration. Assemblage is currently in residence at the Foundling Museum in London where they host 10 workshops a year for young people aged 18-30, as well as offering a range of other events open to all at different venues across London.
