Join us for a talk diving into the experiences of children, cared for by the Foundling Hospital, through their own words and voices. Foundling Voices was the Museum’s oral history project which recorded the life stories of 76 former pupils who were at the Foundling Hospital between 1912 and 1954. Their stories mirror the pattern of care established by the early Governors in 1739 and give insights into the broader experience of foundling children.
This talk will present audio extracts from the oral history project alongside family and archival photographs highlighting the deeply personal and moving individual stories of ordinary people going through extraordinary experiences.
This talk will last 40 minutes, with an opportunity to ask questions afterwards. Tickets are available to watch either ONLINE or IN-PERSON at the Foundling Museum; in-person tickets include Museum entry. The online recording will be available to watch for 1 month. Please note that this talk may contain discussion of difficult subjects which some guests may find distressing.
