Take a break from the bustle of London at the Foundling Museum and enjoy a lunchtime recital by trumpeter Tom Thornton.

Join us in the Picture Gallery for a recital by trumpeter Tom Thornton.

Tom is keen to promote brass chamber music. For the 2023 Bach in Leipzig series he was selected as principal trumpet for the Royal Academy of Music Baroque Soloists. Tom most recently performed as part of the 2024 BBC Proms season as principal trumpet while on trial with the Ulster Orchestra, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. As principal trumpet of the Berkeley Brass septet, Tom is supporting the development of “young person’s guide to the brass septet” concert series for schools, which showcases the versatility of brass instruments through a dazzling new arrangement of Peter and the Wolf.

We are delighted to be hosting him at the Foundling Museum. Our Young Artists’ Platform programme showcases exceptional musicians at the start of their musical career. In partnership with Philharmonia Orchestra, the programme provides monthly recital opportunities for their Philharmonia Instrumental Fellows.

Repertoire TBC.

The performance will last an hour, and is free with the price of admission.
