Nursery Workshop Programme
Throughout the year, we partner with a number of Early Years settings across London and the UK to deliver artist-led outreach workshops for children aged 2-5 years. Our creative art, storytelling, play and music workshops explore the story of the Foundling Hospital through dynamic, hands-on activities. Workshops in the nursery setting are also often complemented by inspiring visits to the Museum. The programme aims to support each child’s development across the Early Years Foundation Stage, offering experiences that build cultural capital and enable children to express themselves creatively.
This whole experience has been so fantastic. The children have really benefited from it and it has been an amazing opportunity, especially for the looked after children in the group. We can’t wait to participate in the project again next year!
The children talk about the workshops and the Museum all week. They have learned so much and being part of the project is amazing. We include the workshops in our newsletter for families. We are so proud to be part of this project!
Reception Music Explorers
We partner with local schools to deliver music workshops to Reception classes, both in school and here at the Museum. Inspired by the Foundling Hospital’s legacy of learning through music, we pair classes with professional musicians to explore instrumentation, composition, song writing, movement and voice.

This is such a wonderful opportunity for the children. They are socializing, talking, being creative. It’s so great for their confidence. I can’t believe we are just around the corner from the Foundling Museum – I’m in awe!
