Enjoy a lunchtime concert in our Picture Gallery from trumpeter Tom Thornton.

We are delighted to welcome trumpeter Tom Thornton back to the Foundling Museum. Tom was previously the Philharmonia Trumpet Fellow and last summer performed as principal trumpet with the Ulster Orchestra in the BBC Proms, broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

About Young Artists’ Platform

Our Young Artists’ Platform programme showcases exceptional musicians at the start of their musical career. In partnership with Philharmonia Orchestra, the programme provides monthly recital opportunities for their Philharmonia Instrumental Fellows.

About Tom Thornton
Tom started playing the trumpet through a whole class scheme while at school in South West London and has since gone on to complete his studies at the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Mark David, Jeroen Berwearts, Jason Evans and Bob Farley. He now spends his musical life devoted to a range of disciplines ranging from orchestral work and historical performance on the natural trumpet to new music and chamber music with his brass septet Berkeley Brass. Tom has served as guest principal trumpet with Burghclere Baroque, La Musica Nuova and the Ulster Orchestra.
When he’s not playing the trumpet, Tom enjoys reading, kayaking and sampling new coffee shops.
