About Matthew Lait

Initially studying the trumpet at Chetham’s School of Music, Matthew discovered a passion for the tuba. This led him to the Royal Northern College of Music, which was followed by a Master of Performance with distinction at Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Ben Thompson (London Symphony Orchestra) and Kevin Morgan (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), and an Artist Diploma in Performance at the Royal College of Music, under the guidance of Pete Smith (Philharmonia Orchestra) and Dan Trodden (CBSO) and Sasha Koush-Jalali. Matthew has performed with many world-class ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and has been heard in the BBC Proms as well as in commercial recordings for LSO.
