This display shows a selection of works from Quentin Blake's series Young Faces.
Young Faces, 2021, is a series of 45 Stabilo watercolour pencil on paper artworks, which Sir Quentin Blake CH CBE (b.1932) gifted to the Museum. The slightly pensive faces of children stare out of the frames but most do not meet the viewer’s eye; they are peering downwards or glancing off to one side. They are not real faces but imaginary ones created by Blake during a period of self-isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic. This current display shows ten of the drawings for the first time.
