Foundling Voices preserves the memories of 74 former foundlings in audio interview,Foundling Voices photographs and film. Tales of family separation, the stigma of illegitimacy, a spartan school education, wartime heroism and the search for birth mothers are all part of this rich social history.

Their stories can be heard in the Museum’s Introductory Gallery, giving voice to the artefacts and archival documents which reveal what growing up at the Foundling Hospital was really like.

Foundling Voices was exhibited at the Museum in 2011, the culmination of a major research project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund
