For those of you who don’t know me I’m Harry, the Operations Manager at the Foundling Museum. Since the Museum closed in March I’ve continued to come into work every day, along with my Operations Assistant, on our bikes. We have been using this interval as an opportunity to make improvements that we normally don’t have the time or space to undertake. It is strange to be in the Museum without all our colleagues or visitors, but now it’s the new normal and I am grateful to have the chance to be productive.
As well as checking that the building and collections are secure and that the environment is stable, we’ve been re-painting all of the public galleries so that the Museum will look at its best when we do reopen.
Over the last week we have been starting to think practically about the safety of our visitors when we re-open (no set date yet). Working out how many people we can have in each space (whilst maintaining social distancing) and therefore the optimum route that combines distance with enjoyment!
Until such a time as you can visit again I’m pleased to announce that we can now let you into the Museum virtually via Google Arts & Culture Street View – not quite as good as a visit but hopefully it will remind you of your past visit and encourage you to come and see us again in the future.
Until then stay safe
