The Lost Words Art Competition Winner Revealed

The Lost Words Art Competition Winner Revealed

Congratulations to Katie Dadswell for winning our The Lost Words Instagram art competition, with her beautiful work Kingfisher. This competition encouraged entrants to depict wildlife that they had seen in their local area, in any art form they wished. With a stunning variety in animals and mediums chosen by entrants, The Lost Words illustrator Jackie Morris chose Katie as the winner after careful deliberation, citing the piece as “really rather perfect”, and that all entries were fantastic. About her work, graphic design student Katie said that Kingfisher recreated the wonderful colours of the bird spotted on the river in Dorset.

Second place was awarded to Max Kimber’s The Red Shoes And The Dream Of Night, a large vintage analogue photograph and mixed media, hand-coloured. This unique piece, highlighting a barn owl, caught Jackie’s imagination with its surreal and individual quality. Honourable mention was made to Melanie Day’s Iron Wire Barn Owl, who was inspired by the barn owls in her local area in Somerset.
