As part of our exhibition Quentin Blake: Gifted, we asked writers to set words to his images, reversing Blake’s usual process by getting the poets responding to his drawings.
In this interview, we chat with one of the writers, the hugely talented Yomi Sode, about his inspiration, working process, and his involvement with our exhibition.
Yomi Sode is a writer and poet born in Oyo State Nigeria, who balances the fine line between both Nigerian and British cultures in his works and performances. Among his many achievements, Yomi was one of three writers awarded the Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship in 2019.
For our exhibition, he was inspired to write by Blakes’s Children with birds & dogs #3.
