Enjoy a performance from Vicky Yuan-Labarre and João Lima, filmed in the Museum.

Vicky and João have performed several times as part of our concert series in the Museum, and kindly visited us out-of-hours to record this flute and guitar performance in the Picture Gallery.

Vicky Yuan-Labarre studied a Master Degree in Music Performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Her early successes include winning the Taipei Flute Competition in 2008, and performing with the Kuang-Jen Symphony Orchestra and the YMCA Symphony Orchestra at the Taipei National Concert Hall as Principal Flute. In the third year of her Bachelor of Music, she played as a guest flautist for the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in London, and performed in its National Gala. Whilst studying in London, Vicky was appointed as Principal Flute and Principal Piccolo of the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra. She played as Principal Flute for the London Graduate Orchestra from 2013-2014, and later held recitals at venues including the Royal Opera House, Royal Academy of Music, St John’s Smith Square and King’s Place.

Born in Portugal, João Lima prides himself in his versatility and broad musical interests. As a solo artist, he has performed at King’s Place as part of the London Guitar Festival and around London with his guitar and flute duo. Besides the classical guitar, he has strong interests in electric guitar, composition, as well as performing with non-classical artists and collaborating with other art forms. He is currently based in London, where he recently finished his Masters Degree at the Royal Academy of Music with Distinction in Performance.
