Calling all Sir Quentin Blake fans! Have you ever wanted to be a writer or illustrator? Why not join us to complete a story inspired by Blake’s new works with lots of other children!

Are you a budding writer or illustrator? Join in with this creative and fun competition, and using this image from our exhibition Quentin Blake: Gifted as a starting point, begin a brand new adventure!

About taking part (our Ts and Cs – the boring but important bit where we tell you what you need to know)
  • This competition is open to all UK resident children aged 6-16, so if you can please take part.
  • Entry is via e-mail only, unfortunately you cannot post your submissions to us this time (and if you do post them to us, we are not able to send them back).
  • Please submit your stories within the body of an email or attached as a Word document.
  • Illustrations should be either square or landscape and submitted in a PDF or JPG format, via email.
  • By submitting an entry, you agree to transfer ownership of the original story and/or artwork to The Foundling Museum.
  • The judges are Museum staff, plus additional guests, and they will choose at least one winning entry every Tuesday on a weekly basis … The judges’ decision is final.
  • Entries must be submitted on Mondays before 10:00 to be considered for publication on The Foundling Museum website and social media platforms each Wednesday.
  • The competition will run until Monday 30 August 2020.
  • No prize (monetary or otherwise) will be awarded to the successful contestants.
  • We would like to be able to write to everyone that takes part, however we are not able to.
  • HAVE FUN and be creative, and most importantly enjoy taking part.
