Inspired by George King’s life, this programme from Laetitia Fédérici, on piano, and mezzo-soprano Maggie Cooper will include works by by Elgar and Gilbert and Sullivan, on themes of childhood, sea, soul searching and West End entertainment.
Laetitia Fédérici studied in France with Muza Rubackyte and at the Conservatoire of Cergy-Pontoise. After obtaining the Postgraduate Diploma at Trinity College of Music, she received the Master’s degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in 2002 the first prize at the Gerald Moore Award. Laetitia enjoys a varied career as a song accompanist and chamber musician and recorded a CD with violinist Survier Flores in 2016. She has accompanied the Trinity Boys Choir during two tours in China as well as for a recording of British Folksong. She is teaching piano at Trinity School, Croydon and Sevenoaks School and is an examiner for Trinity College London
Maggie Cooper was awarded a scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has delighted in over fifteen years as a lyric soprano and as her voice developed, she transitioned to singing Mezzo – Soprano. Maggie’s Mezzo roles include Mutter and Hexe Hänsel und Gretel. She has given recitals in Europe’s oldest concert hall- The Holywell Music Room and in London she has performed for The International Concert Series at Steiner Hall and at many prestigious venues including St Paul’s Cathedral, St John’s Smith Square and Kings Place. In 2019, Maggie was nominated for Women’s Radio Station’s Future Classic Women Awards. In 2018, Maggie founded Carshalton Opera with a mission to produce professional opera and classical music concerts for their local community and beyond with a focus on inspiring adults and children of all ages.
